THE HISTORY OF HARPUT GROUP

     The Harput Group took its name from the ancient city of Harput, and was founded in the city Of Elazığ in 1985, by Hacı Sadi Etkeser who was a drapery wholesaler. The second generation of the Etkeser family moved to the city of Bursa in 1980, and opened their first wholesale drapery store in Gökçenhan, and founded Harput Textile Industries Ltd. Later, during a period of mass industrialization in Turkey, Harput began investing in new machinery. Weaving production started with 25 looms and has grown to 543; warp preparation was also started at this time.

    Harput Textile concentrated on the manufacture of cotton and fancy fabrics until 2001, but since that time, has specialized in fancy fabrics with the foundation of Hazar Textile Mensucat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. This event marked the foundation of the Harput Group.

    In 1997, thanks to our continuous deveolpment and future investment plans. We took a decision to become active in the field of insurance. Miranlı Insurance, which was founded to give insurance services to the Group and other companies in Bursa, is active in all areas of insurance, such as fire, accident, transport, and engineering, and is supported by a partner with 44 years of experience in this field.

    Miranlı Textiles was founded in 1998, in order to meet the yarn consumption requirements of our textile companies. It is active in marketing, buying, and selling of synthetic yarns in the domestic, and  overseas markets. Miranli Textile serves all of the Group companies, plus other Bursa companies, with yarns and warp preparations.

    Our investments in the textile sector, our main area of activity, have continued relentlessly throughout our period of expansion. In line with the Harput Group’s integrated manufacturing objectives, Kinteks Weaving and Dyeing Co. was absorbed into the Group in 1999, and this company has rapidly developed into one of Bursa’s, and Turkey’s largest companies in the field of dyeing, printing and finishing.

    Our investments continued, and we established Hazar Textile Mensucat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. This company is responsible for cotton fabric production within the Group, and has been operating in Gökçeköy, Bursa, since 2005. It is a high production capacity unit, using the most up-to-date machinery available.

    As a result of our continued expansion plans after 2000, we made our first entry into the foodstuff sector, with the establishment of Sadioğulları Gıda Sanayi va Ticaret A.Ş. This company has been providing the daily requirements of the group and other Bursa companies for the past 3 years, operating under the trade name of Limon Catering.

    In 2005, Maikim Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was established after 5 years of construction work. Maikim is the Harput Group’s first venture into the field of chemistry, and produces water-based pigment dispersions, conditioning chemicals, and basic textile chemicals. Operating under the trade name of Maitürk, Maikim aims to establish a strong market position through positive and significant development.
